Houston Activities: Houston Rodeo
It’s officially Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo season in Houston. The Rodeo makes for the perfect family trip during the month of March and has something for everyone to enjoy. Catch a concert from one of the world class performers, eat the deep fried food of your wildest dreams or ride jaw dropping carnival rides. Rodeo and Performances
Want to see performers like George Strait and Brad Paisley after watching cowboys take down steers twice their size? Weekday rodeos (Monday-Friday) start at 6:45 p.m. with the performers taking the stage at 9 p.m. The gates to NRG stadium open at 6 p.m. Weekend rodeos (Saturday and Sunday) start at 3:45 p.m. with the performer taking the state at 6 p.m. NRG Stadium gates open at 3 p.m.

Carnival
Get your thrills at this years Rodeo carnival! Carnival admission is included with the purchase of a Grounds Pass or a Rodeo/Concert Ticket. In addition to the carnival, a Grounds Pass allows visitors access to NRG Arena and NRG Center. A Rodeo/Concert ticket allows access to the same areas as a Grounds Pass, plus NRG Stadium for the rodeo and concert performance. On Wednesdays, family’s can enjoy $2 rides and games from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., along with a $2 food or drink item at select food stands.
Have a family member in need of a less overwhelming experience at the Rodeo? Mark your calendar for March 4th as the Rodeo will host a Sensory Friendly Experience from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in select areas of the carnival to promote an accommodating and positive experience for all Rodeo guests with sensory sensitivities or challenges. During this time, there will be minimal lights and sounds permitted in the carnival.

Dining
There’s lots of different foods to discover and enjoy every year. New for the 2022 Rodeo, is a fine dining restaurant that offers guests the opportunity to enjoy a sit-down dining experience at the Rach + Saloon Steakhouse. You can make reservation for the Steakhouse HERE.
Looking for the old-fashioned Rodeo food experience? You’ll be sure to find them in the Rodeo’s several food booths located throughout the grounds. Although the same experience you know and love, this year you can find new foods such as the donut chicken sandwich or bacon wrapped pork belly on a stick. Gallery and Shops
Need a break from the food and rides? Take a walk through the NRG Center and see works of art from the talented students who participated in the School Art Contest. The artwork is divided into seven categories: colored drawing, mixed media, monochromatic, painting, 3D, elementary and junior high and all have a western theme.
Feel free to also get some shopping done while you’re there and visit one (or a few!) of the hundreds of vendors that travel to the Rodeo each year. With more than 300 vendors, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Let your impulses go with the countless retail vendors.
