With Memorial Day right around the corner, Premier Patient Housing would like to thank those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country as well as those who continue to serve today. Here’s our list of Houston activities that honor those who’ve served and sacrificed their lives in the U.S. Armed Forces. From gatherings big and small to activities you can do at home, Houston offers something for everyone this Memorial Day weekend.

Memorial Day Festival at the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum

Join the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum on May 31st from 12pm-5pm as they celebrate Memorial Day. Support veteran-owned vendors and enjoy activities for the whole family including museum tours, kid-focused activities and photos with troopers. Event admission is free but does require an RSVP to attend. You can RSVP for the event here.

 

Memorial Day in The Woodlands

Celebrate in The Woodlands! The Sunday, May 30th event will pay tribute to all military service men and women who lost their lives while serving the United States. The festival will feature live music, children’s activities, entertainers, and more at Town Green Park. The evening will conclude with a dazzling fireworks extravaganza display choreographed to a patriotic soundtrack, weather permitting. Concessions will also be available for purchase. City of Friendswood Memorial Day Celebration

Pay homage to our country’s fallen heroes in the City of Friendswood. The morning features patriotic music, a tribute to the different military branches, and more. Admissions is free for all ages but attendees are asked to bring their own lawn chairs. Event begins at 10:00am on May 31st at the Veteran’s Memorial located adjacent to Friendswood City Hall (910 S Friendswood Dr.).

Memorial Day Ceremony in Sugar Land

Although many of us look forward to the long weekend, let us not forget what the holiday is really about: honoring the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Join Sugar Land officials as they host a Memorial day Ceremony at Sugar Land Memorial Park from 10am-12pm on Monday, May 31st. Activities include vendor exhibits and patriotic booths as well as an official ceremony and 21-gun salute. Memorial Day at Home

We at Premier Patient housing understand that health concerns may keep you and your family from celebrating Memorial Day out and about the city of Houston. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate at home! Here are some activities you can do at home to celebrate those who have served.

Send a care package

Honor the heroes of the past by sending a care package to an active duty service member. Don’t know what to send? Look on the Support Our Troops website for details, including care package do’s and don’ts, and where to ship care package goods.

Bake Patriotic Memorial Day Treats

Create a Memorial Day Sidewalk Mural

Kids, and adults, of all ages can get in on the fun of creating a giant sidewalk chalk mural. Draw themed pictures and consider using it as an opportunity to talk to your child(ren) about the importance of the holiday. Tune in to the National Memorial Day Concert

Just because you can’t go to a concert doesn’t mean you can’t watch one! Turn on the TV and watch a moving tribute that honors America’s servicemen and women from the comfort of your home. This year’s National Memorial Day Concert airs Sunday, May 30, at 8:00 p.m. EST on PBS, and includes performances by Sara Bareilles, Vince Gill, and Alan Jackson.
