If you know you will be in Houston for at least a couple of days, be sure to check out one of the city’s most famous attractions! The Houston Zoo is one of the most well-liked and notable zoos in both the state and the country. Featuring an incredibly diverse and wide array of animals from around the world, you can spend an entire day learning with the family.

Less than one mile from the center of the Medical Center, the Houston Zoo is very walkable and has lots of accessible parking areas. The Zoo itself has membership programs, day passes, and family plans that allow you to spend as much time as possible without breaking the bank. Tickets start as low as $14 for children under 11 and they are absolutely free for kids under 2. Be sure to bring everyone you are traveling with, and block out an entire day to spend time with your loved ones. The zoo was voted as the #1 “thing to do” in the city by Skyscanner.com, and regularly features new attractions every few weeks.

Some of the most popular animal exhibits include wild cats like lions, elephant pens, orangutan and chimpanzee zones, and petting zoos for the youngest crowds. There is an entire section of the zoo dedicated to kid-friendly activities and educational seminars that they will love. There is also a lot of options for foods and souvenirs, including multiple gift shops and restaurants in the zoo facility.

Your favorite animals are all over this incredible experience, and spending more time with your family will be a great getaway for a few hours of your day. The best part about this zoo is how close it is to where you’ll be staying at Premier Patient Housing. Either a beautiful walk or a short drive away will lead you to one of the best zoos you’ve ever seen before.
