If you will be in Houston for any of the next month, you will absolutely need to stop by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. This past weekend was the largest barbecue cookoff in the entire nation, where cooking teams from around the country compete for a delicious championship. Hundreds of teams that specialize in specific categories, like chicken, pork, sausage and more all spent Thursday through Saturday grinding out the best-prepared meats you have ever tasted in your life. The team who ended up winning in the ribs category, Texas Social Club, is one of the major highlights and eventful tents to visit when exploring the cookoff.

As for the actual livestock show and rodeo, the events will begin taking place on March 3rd and run all the way until March 22nd when festivities start to wrap up. On average, the livestock show’s events like calf wrangling, bull riding, and horse racing will begin around 6:45 pm. Immediately following those proceedings is the main event of the night, which are concerts from popular artists of numerous genres. These shows will generally be starting around 9:00 pm every night, give or take a few minutes to set up the concert stage.

The carnival and games section of the rodeo is also a major treat to all visitors, ranging from young children to adults of all ages. There are giant slides, merry-go-rounds, epic roller coasters, fun houses, and giant ball drops that suspend over 50 feet in the air. Carnival tickets can be purchased ahead of time as part of your admission to the show and concert, but additional tickets can also be purchased at the event itself. We highly encourage our visitors to stay with us at Premier Patient Housing during March so that you can truly experience the classic Texan and Houston lifestyle. Happy Rodeo season!
